If you’re looking for a relaxing walk around a peaceful, beautiful lake, then you can’t do much better than Buttermere. The relatively easy route around the lake offers up one of the best walks in the Lake District, offering you spectacular views of the local scenery and wildlife as a reward for your efforts.
The route itself is 4½ miles (7km) and takes approximately three hours to complete, with one short scramble across rocks where you may need to use your hands and one very short stretch on the road.
#TheOtherSideOfTheLakes
The permissive path along the north end of the lake (closest to the village) closes from 1st April – 30th June each year so that the resident sandpipers can nest in peace.
